Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Two goals of exceptional quality but the question I want to ask is if you were a professional player and could pick either goal to score which one would you pick.

In absolute honesty I would pick the Carroll goal because that is the type of goal I have dreamt of scoring since I was about 10 years old.
The athleticism and the power he hit it at was so sweet to watch and I can only imagine how chuffed Carroll must have felt..
Surely even though Girouds goal may have looked and probably was technically more difficult to pull off no one will make me believe it felt as good as how Carrolls volley felt .

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
The keeper stood absolutely no chance whatsoever, his dive looked a bit pathetic considering the power of the shot but it was a mere token gesture.

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Don't you think the Palace keeper could have done a bit better for Carroll's goal? Wasn't he the same one that got caught out on Payat's raved about free kick last year.

Carroll...

Giroux was speculative flick out at the ball hoping to divert it to the goal...

Carroll was pure technique ...excellent execution...withbpower and direction...

And he's attempted this type of finish before...

That 'somebody' might have been the rotund comedy figure that currently manages Palace, who said 'West Ham didn't play well, we just gifted them three soft goals'.

It feels SO FUCKING GREAT to hear that cunt wittering on after his team lose and you realise he's not talking about us.

It must have nearly killed him when instead of singing songs about him (so he could have another chance to abuse the crowd and remind the world what a great manager he is) we just sang 'SUPER SLAV'. The cunt couldn't say a word about the fans but just had to knock the team's performance in a puerile, ignorant way.

'Three soft goals' eh? Does he realise saying that about a goal of the season contender makes him look like an even bigger cunt?

Carroll all day for me, I have scored a few OH kicks in my time but Andy's was literally perfect. Giroud's goal was good but those type of goals are just luck of the draw

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
So MOTD still takes the top 3 from twitter and then decides.

Why don't they make the decision based on the 10 or whatever they have seeing as they are PUNDIT'S?

Fuck me mate, how long have you been posting on here?

A long time

I fully expected a bundle of cunts saying Carroll's goal was a fluke and some random goal by Kane or Ali was much better.

IIRC someone did say he was given too much room in the area implying that it was down to Palace that he scored !! You really couldn't make it up

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Why do people care about Goal of the Month/Season etc votes ?
Especially ones that ask the great unwashed on *shudders* social media.

Same with all these player of the season and golden ball things that Messi and Ronaldo seem to bat back and forward.
All pointless bollocks

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Giroud was a good goal and there was awe that he pulled it off

Carroll there was awe that he had absolutley smashed it in with perfect technique and execution. To get that much power and direction was incredible

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Taken from the wikipedia page re goal of the season:

On 24 May 2015, the final day of the 2014–15 season, Match of the Day held an online vote at around 11pm GMT for the Goal of the Season award. Users were able to vote via the BBC website or via Twitter. The poll was quickly rigged by Arsenal supporters, many from the Far East, resulting in Jack Wilshere winning the award for his final day strike against West Bromwich Albion, despite not being the favourite.[4]
Host Gary Lineker expressed surprise as he read out the winner, and pundit Alan Shearer suggested that Charlie Adam should have won the award for his 66-yard effort against Chelsea; fellow pundit Danny Murphy felt former Fulham team-mate Bobby Zamora should have won.

The incident was labelled a "shambles" by Pete Smith of The Stoke Sentinel[5] who thought that Stoke City's Adam should have won, and a "concerted campaign by Arsenal fans" by Alan Pattullo of the Scotsman,[6] who also believed that the Scottish midfielder was deserving of the award. Mark Brus of Caught Offside also criticized the choice stating that a goal in a meaningless game should not have won Goal of the Season and that Juan Mata's acrobatic effort against Liverpool was worthy of the award.[7]

The following season, prior to the final episode of that season's Match of the Day, the programme's producers changed the rules to prevent a similar situation. The Goal of the Season award will now be decided by the pundits on the show, who will choose the winner based on the top three goals voted for by the public.

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
If anyone is on social media you will know that if there is ever any kind of poll, Arsenal always seem to win as them lot seem to batter them.

If it comes to a poll on MOTD or whatever for this, Giroud will probably win it, even though on a technical level, Andy's was better.

Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Haven’t read through the thread but not sure what response would get on a WEST HAM forum about the possibility that an Arsenal goal was better other than the goal by Carroll was the better, which of course it was, stupid fucking question really don’t you think???

When it comes to goal of the month or whatever on MOTD etc then wont surprise me that the goal from the player at the “Big” club will be deemed superior.

HairyHammer 5:24 Tue Jan 17
Re: Carroll or Giroud Goal ?
Carroll was at absolute full stretch too which made the strike through the ball look even more brilliant, the man has the legs of a Giraffe.

Anyway it looks like 98% of you would rather have scored Carroll#s goal, " quelle surprise".

Fuck me mate, how long have you been posting on here?

This is the most self-hating football site on the whole information super interweb. I fully expected a bundle of cunts saying Carroll's goal was a fluke and some random goal by Kane or Ali was much better.

I'm actually genuinely surprised this fred is so onside with Carroll's MAGNIFICENT goal- although a poster keeps calling him a 'Durham bumper' which I presume he thinks gets funnier every time he says it. Almost as funny as calling the ground the 'hotpoint stadium', a 'joke' that never seems to get old.

Sold, I've always liked you but for fuck sake work on a bit of new material will you?

As for Carroll, even if he'd not scored I still would have had that down as one of his best games for us. I didn't know he had such blistering pace and his pressing the ball was superb to watch. He had the Palace defence on toast and hit a ball towards goal with such venom just before his goal that I watched the player he smashed against spend the next ten minutes recovering from it.

He was a monster.
